Textures and culture inspire me to paint, as well as the anticipation of arriving somewhere new, even in a familiar place.

The abstracts are created with mostly transparent fluid acrylic, poured and mixed on the paper. After the paint is applied, it is squeegeed and scraped smoothed until it feels like the eroded holes unique to sandstone, or the garish culture of a Mexican village.

As a kid, my Nuevo-Mountain-Man dad hauled me to the highest points of the Continental Divide. Now I hike the Colorado National Monument, where I live with my husband in Fruita, Colorado. Naturally, I graduated from one of the most outdoorsy colleges in the U.S., with a fine arts degree:  Western State in Gunnison, Colorado.
