Susan fell in love with batik while living in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The cracking that occurs in batik seemed perfect for interpreting the aged beauty of the old manors and plantations that dot the island. She moved to Palisade after hurricane Hugo destroyed 90% of St. Croix, and it has been a great place for her to live and work. Her batik’s are in effect recreating the memories of her travels. She will be just returning from Africa when we see her at the March B&P meeting.
